Why do educated people and so called "professionals" treat others badly?

I was flabbergasted to learn from my friend about a very sad and unfortunate situation where so called educated people who have good jobs are only concerned about themselves. It is only "me", "myself" and nothing else. The concerned people occupy an apartment on the ground floor of an unregistered apartments association and being the original buyers, they were allegedly given benefits like reserved parking inside the building, shops, etc. for which they have not being the maintenance fees (towards security, lighting, outside cleaning, paving, costs, etc.)

 To add to their worldly possessions they expanded their flat to take over common land to have their own personal "Garden of Eden". Their greed and selfishness did not stop there. They manipulated the system to have extra gardeners to look after their personal garden and waste water which was meant for the entire building. This resulted in the upstairs flats getting dirty, black water in the taps. When they were informed about the inconvenience to others, they did nothing to alleviate the problem other than to get the managing committee to install water filters at the well, but, this did not solve the problem of dirty water coming from the bottom of the overhead tanks.

Now, you would think that if these people were really wealthy, they would build their own villa and stay as bosses of their own domain. But, they want to stay in a housing colony and dominate the facilities, the watchmen, the gardeners, etc.

Now you be the judge of these types of educated people and you will wonder what good has education done to these people?

Sad to say, for economic reasons many Goans left Goa for greener pastures and that is ok as long as they went to earn a living. But, the unfortunate part is they DID NOT RETURN TO GOA to look after their homes and properties that have been taken away by encroachers and poachers and “foreigners”. This is the most unfortunate reason that the politicians and other non Goans took advantage and usurped the rights of Goans.

Everywhere you go you see injustice, bullying, extortion and you can do very little to exert your rights. Regarding politicians, I do not know about their rights to govern, but, they have certainly lost their morals and ethics and lost the faith of the population. No national party can govern Goa with fairness and justice. They do not, cannot and WILL NEVER understand the Goan culture of living and letting live. Goans do not want trouble, violence, injustice, hatred, etc. as predominantly they are a fun loving culture and do not want to “rock the boat”. But, most politicians get into politics because they are greedy for power, wealth and stardom.

Therefore the Goa Su-Raj Party appears to be the only savior for Goa. There is no other alternative local party that can understand the Goan culture where Christians, Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists, Jews and all religion live in harmony without even thinking that my neighbor is a Christian or Hindu or any other religion. LOVE was the essence of Goan neighbors. But, that has been replaced with greed for money and power. Unfortunately even highly educated individuals like a professor, company secretary, charity trust owner, teacher, accountant and others fail to operate within the boundaries of morals, justice, common sense and ethics. For purely selfish reasons they seek to expand on their territory albeit illegally without paying their dues. This is the reason why Goa will continue to slide the slope of injustice, extortion, bullying, encroachment, poaching and all illegal activities.

This is a true story of a legitimate flat owner who lives in an unregistered housing association in Goa.

After I met this person I thought of passing on this information to expose some of the nefarious activities that are taking place in un-registered housing associations in Goa.

After purchasing his first flat in Goa in an "Unregistered Maintenance Society", he realized that there is something drastically wrong with the current housing scenario. This is his story.

When one purchases a flat either from a builder or a resale flat, and if the Society / Association where the flat is located is not registered with the Registrar of Co-operative Housing Societies of Goa, then one could face a lot of challenges for many reasons:

1. The builder in all probabilities could have favored a few original buyers with some benefits which would not be available to most other buyers and subsequent buyers. In other words in the colony where he purchased a flat, some (around ten percent) of the original buyers were favorites of the builder were given reserved parking, covered parking, commercial shops, etc. But, strangely there was  no provision made for these 10% of members who own flats and were given additional assets to pay towards the maintenance of these added assets.
2. Many of the original buyers have entrenched themselves in the "Managing Committee" and conduct themselves as owners of the colony. The committee is recycled with the same committee switching roles.
3. Many of the members who own three bedroom flats and other assets have not registered their documents and therefore do not want to disclose the sqm of their flats and pay the higher maintenance compared to those who only have two bedroom flats.
4. Maintenance fees are demanded uniformly for every member even though at the AGM meeting a resolution was passed stating that these would be charged according to sqm ownership of assets (flats + covered parking + commercial units)
5. Even though the common land belongs to the builder, the managing committee demanded Rs.40,000/- from the members uniformly (to do the paving of builder's land) even though some have two bedroom and some have three bedroom flats plus reserved parking and covered parking in the buildings, plus commercial units in the colony. 
6. The shop owners do not pay any maintenance and charges for security, cleaning, pest control, electricity, water, paving since those units are owned mostly by the committee members.
7. The Committee operates like a "gang of bullies" and threatens anyone with false police complaints if they raise any objections or exert their rights.
8. Unfortunately, since this is not a registered co-operative housing society, the managing committee believes that they can bully the members and no Registrar or government body can admonish them.
9. At the meetings, the committee members dominate the meetings and if any member raises any objection and puts forward a suggestion, the entire "gang" committee pounces on the member and shuts the member down. When a question is addressed to a committee member, the entire "gang" committee responds with one chorus and quietens the member.
10. The present members are therefore terrified to raise objection to the irregularities existing in the colony since more than half the members (around 23) of the 45 member colony are absentee landlords. At the last AGM out of 14 attendees, 8 were committee members (and their family).
11. Certain members of the committee control the watchmen, gardeners and cleaners and pay them hefty salaries which enables them to get their personal work done, i.e. cleaning of their cars daily, walking the dog, watering their personal gardens, etc. 
12. Very often the watchmen (day and night) are missing from their post and yet salaries are doubled!!
